Perfection- It is something we all long to obtain in our lives. We look for the perfect routines, the best ways to be perfect homemakers, wives, and mothers. We buy endless amounts of books to help encourage us to be perfect Christians and to focus our efforts on achieving perfection.
Yet, time and time again we fail on reaching the goal of perfection. We snap at our children, fuss with our husbands and even find ourselves resentful at the walk that we are currently being led to walk. These moments when we feel like failures we begin to feel as though we are just simply never going to be good enough. We start to feel as though there is something wrong with us. Like maybe we are just not rooted in the Word enough or that we are missing something. After all, if we were then we would certainly be closer today to perfection than we were yesterday. Instead of moving 20 steps forward and taking 30 steps back we would be right on point for a change. In these moments of despair, we simply think and feel that maybe we should simply give up. Throw our hands up and simply say forget it.
Yet, in our Daily Moments with God – Philippians reading we are reminded of something…………
Not that I have already obtained this or am already perfect, but I press on to make it my own, because Christ Jesus has made me his own. Philippians 3:12
Stop, and truly think about this for a moment. Paul states that he hasn’t made it to perfection but he presses forward to become perfect because Jesus has made Paul His own. Paul is reminding us that even though we are not perfect and that we will never be perfect on this Earth, Christ has still made us His which is far better than reaching perfection on this Earth.
Instead, because we are His we continue to try.
Even though we know that we are saved by grace and that we blanketed with His saving grace it doesn’t mean that we stop striving to reach for perfection. Instead, it is because we are His that we long to try to do all that is pleasing to Him even though we know that we will fall short.
Perfection isn’t possible in this lifetime. However, because we serve God we must still continue to try. Even on the days, we are certain we are failing because even in those moments….God is working.
Until Next Time Just Keep Soaring 4 Him,
