As Christians, we have instantly been adopted into God’s family. Just like in all families there are bound to be issues among us. After all, have you ever met a family that could always get along? The difference between the family of God and the earthly family is that God’s family is called to be unified.
Unity seems to be a foreign word in today’s churches. We have denominations that are attacking other denominations. We have churches that pacify the world by teaching watered down truths that then causes conflict among other churches. We even have members of the same church bashing other members of the same congregation.
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of theSpirit in the bond of peace. Ephesians 4:1-3
As Christians, we are supposed to seek out peace and unity between ourselves and our brothers/sisters in Christ. Remembering that ultimately we are all one body in Christ. Even though we all may have a difference of opinion from time to time.
There is one body and one spirit- just as you were called to the one home that belings to your call- one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all. wjo os pver all and through all and in all. Epehesians 4: 4-6
As parents, we long for our children to get along with each other to create a unified family unit. God wants that for His family as well. He longs for us to work together for the common goal which is to be the light in a dark world.
But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. Ephesians 4:7
The fact is there is not one denomination that is perfect. There is not one church that is perfect, There is not one member of the church body that is perfect. If it were possible to be perfect there would be no need for grace.
- Instead of tearing each other up imagine what would happen if we would actually build each other up.
- Instead of judging each other what if we would choose to help each other instead.
- Instead of always trying to be right we would listen to each other and then seek out God’s guidance instead of leaning to our own understanding.
If we would all do these things the ultimate Church would be unstoppable.
